These are great camps for your older Spring Breakers! They include storytelling, character creation and artistic development. Depending on which week you choose they will either create a story book or a comic book using these newly gained skills. See the brochure for more details!

GROUP CLASSES FOR KIDS 2-13
CLASSES START APRIL 19 AND ARE ENROLLING NOW!
Scribble Press’ classes are designed to develop self-esteem, literacy and self-expression. Children from ages 2 to 5 explore their natural artistic and storytelling abilities and learn key pre-literacy skills, all in a fun and creative environment. Classes for kids 6 and older focus on building specific art and writing skills or an examination of topics of social and emotional interest.
SERIES: Classes are available as a series. A child may join a series midway, and fees will be prorated. We give a 15% discount for the second class or second child enrolled during any session.

MAKE-UP POLICY: Make-ups can be made at any other class session during the same week or at a self-guided individual session any Friday morning, provided that you give us advance notice that you will not be attending class.

SCRIBBLETS (AGES 2 - 3)
Classes for Scribblets are one hour long “parent and me” classes lead by our fantastic group of seasoned teachers. Our classes give little ones the opportunity to make new friends, have fun in a safe environment as well as focus on art exploration and the early building blocks of literacy. Each day kids read stories, engage in sensory activities, and explore a variety of manipulatives and art materials. Each 8- 12 week session culminates in the creation of a bound book that children write and illustrate themselves. The final day of each session, the teachers hold a “reading” with champagne (sparkling apple cider) and fresh baked cookies, as children celebrate their accomplishments and share their published books with their peers and parents.
BUZZ, BLOOM AND FLUTTER
Get ready to explore Spring!! Each day children will explore the things that make Spring come alive!! They’ll make a great book about birds, ladybugs, bees, flowers and trees that they will read over and over.
THE COLORS OF MY WORLD
Children explore primary and secondary colors through books, songs, games and a variety of media such as paint, collage and sand.
WONDERFUL WORLD OF ANIMALS
Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My! Kids will learn about a different animal each week and create an amazing art project about each animal.
THINGS THAT GO
All aboard!! Come join us for a fun class where explore vehicles of all kinds. A great class for active kids who love planes, trains, bicycles, scooters, trucks, skates, surfboards and more!
THE SHAPE OF THINGS
Children will learn to identify the basic shape of things through exploration in stories, real life, art and play. They will learn to combine shapes to create pictures and will leave at the end of the session with their very own Book of Shapes.

Scribblers Ages 3-5
Classes for Scribblers are hour long classes guided by our seasoned teachers that provide preschoolers with a fun environment to develop their creative and pre-literacy skills. Each class has a general theme and each day kids learn through sensory activities, stories, social interaction and related art activities. Each 8- 12 week session culminates in the creation of a bound book that children write and illustrate themselves. The final day of each session, the teachers hold a “reading” with champagne (sparkling apple cider) and fresh baked cookies, as children celebrate their accomplishments and share their published books with their peers and parents.
YUMMY! MY DELICIOUS WORLD
Each week, kids fly on their imaginary carpets to a new country on the map! They read a story about that country, explore various materials and customs form those countries, and do an art project with the flag and other identifiers from their research. On their journey, they learn the basic concepts of measuring and mixing and identifying sweet, spicy, sour, and salty. Their exploration culminates by preparing a yummy treat from that country. At the end of the 8 -12 week session, children will leave with their very own delicious International Cookbook, written, illustrated and tested by them.
WEIRD SCIENCE
Children will learn how to observe, experiment and document different scientific theories to come up with their own conclusions about how things work. Each week they will consider explore a different area of science. Topics will include volcanoes, bugs, animal life, fossils and more. At the end of the session, children will leave with their very own Book of Science Explorations.

SCRIBBLE STORYTELLERS (AGES 4 - 6)
Classes for Storytellers focus on the fundamental building blocks of literacy and self-expression: naming things, describing things, creating images from colors, textures and shapes, and building stories from words and art. Storytellers create their own books in each class unit that they can take home to reinforce concepts learned as well as enjoy sharing with family and friends. These classes are one hour “parent and me” experiences.
WEIRD SCIENCE - *NEW for 2010*
Children will learn how to observe, experiment and document different scientific theories to come up with their own conclusions about how things work. Each week they will consider a different scientific question and explore, illustrate and document in their own Scribble Press book. They will make volcanos, observe and play with bugs, look at animal life, explore the differences between solids, liquids and gasses, and much more. Guaranteed messy fun for all!
IT’S A MAD (AND HAPPY AND SAD) WORLD
Children love to explore feelings. In this class children will read books about different emotional situations and have an opportunity to talk about different possible solutions to events that cause people to feel a certain way. They will have pictures taken of them making the faces of various emotions. They will also illustrate and dictate stories about each of the emotions discussed. Each class will end with an opportunity to act out the stories. The children will have a great time while learning very important social skills and making their own book about feelings.
ABCS
Children will explore the shapes and sounds of letters through books, songs and games, and create a book with each letter of the alphabet and words that begin with that letter. They will be able to dictate short stories or poems using words beginning with each sound for each letter. Very basic beginning handwriting skills will also be included.
CREATIVE WRITING
Children learn to expand on their storytelling abilities by reading and building on the stories in well-known picture books. This class will introduce key story concepts such as beginning, middle and end; plot; setting; and character. Children will work with story webs and learn to create details and use descriptive language to create their own stories. Children will also begin to learn about different forms of illustration and will be guided in choosing the media they wish to use to illustrate their book. Each class will end with playacting the stories created that day.

SCRIBBLE AUTHORS & ARTISTS (AGES 6+)
Authors and Artists classes provide a fun and educational environment in which kids are encouraged to build skills in writing and art as well as gain confidence in self-expression. Our teachers are top notch and are dedicated to working closely with our students to develop their interests and talents. As is the tradition in our Scribble Press studio, on the last day of each session, students will receive a bound copy of the work and celebrate their accomplishment with a “reading” for their peers, teachers and other invited guests. Champagne (sparkling cider) and cookies will be served as kids celebrate becoming published authors and artists.
GRAFFITI POETRY *NEW FOR 2010*
Students will take digital photographs of places that interest them. These photos will be printed in a large b/w format and students will be taught to graffiti on them. Projects include writing about their creations in prose or poems. Different forms of poetry will be introduced to inspire the student's writing. At the end of class an art book of the student's work will be published.
COMIC BOOKS
Students will develop their own comic book main character and stories and create a full comic book over the course of this class. Comic book storytelling as well as drawing styles and what makes a good comic book hero will be covered in this classic Scribble Press class. Kapow! Fly on in with your own special powers for this awesome class.
FAMOUS ARTISTS
Join us for teacher Adam Davis’ celebrated Famous Artists class. Students will study artists from Picasso and Matisse to Klee and Warhol, and create their own versions of iconic paintings. Amaze all your friends with your versatility as an artist and knowledge of art history as you show off your very own collection of masterpieces compiled in book form.
CREATIVE WRITING
In this fun creative writing class, students will learn to expand on their storytelling abilities as they polish a piece of writing and ready it for publication. They will share work with one another in a supportive environment and develop their writing skills as they increase their understanding of plot, character and setting. They will also study different forms of illustration and will be guided in choosing the media they wish to use to illustrate their books.
